November updates!

I've been out of town for the past couple of weeks, hence my lack of posts. But fear not, my time away was well-spent! I've been soaking up some theatrical greatness on the other side of the pond; namely, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which I saw a few years ago when it first opened and adored so much that I had to see it again, and the Barbican's production of Hamlet. (Yes, the one starring Benedict Cumberbatch.)

And don't think we neglected the world of British film and TV! Because we certainly did not - visits were made to the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden, the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff, and Barry Island, aka the home of Gavin and Stacey.

Me with my new BFFs. (Marco's Cafe, Barry Island, Wales)

It was a wonderful trip. And now I'm very excited to be home and back to work on some fun upcoming projects, including a short film which will be going into production in early 2016, and a comedy/horror web series that should be making its way onto the interwebz in time for next year's Halloween. Happy November, all!

Molly Gordon at Andromeda Studios

Today we had our last big filming day for Molly Gordon. We filmed at Andromeda Studios, a really cool space in Van Nuys. I know a couple of the people who run the studio, which is how I learned of it. I would recommend the space to anyone who is looking for somewhere to film that is both professional and accessible. It was a great experience, and I'm especially thankful to Renato for all of his help!

Molly Gordon: On Location

Here's another photo! This time we're on location in Hollywood. That's Christopher, director extraordinaire, talking to Katie and Hunter, two of our amazing actors.

Plotting how to make Molly's life even more miserable.

We had a lot of fun today! Before filming the scene pictured above, we were at the Stephanie Feury Acting Studio. It's a great space and it was absolutely perfect for the episode that we were working on. It's exciting that we're almost done filming, because I can't wait to start piecing all this footage together!

Molly Gordon: Meet Vanessa

Here's a photo from the set of Molly Gordon! That's me looking pathetic on the couch, as Molly, and a wonderful (and hilarious) actress named Lyndsey as Molly's roommate, Vanessa.

This image pretty much sums up their relationship.

Molly Gordon Has a Cast!

We have our cast! After two days of auditions and one day of callbacks, I am very pleased to announce that we have found our Evan, our Vanessa, and our Tyler. We had so many great actors come in to read, and it was a tough decision, but we ended up with some awesome people. Filming starts soon - can't wait to get started!

Harvey's Dream and Molly Gordon Auditions!

Just in case you thought that Molly Gordon is the only project that I'm working on at the moment - think again! My brother recently adapted a Stephen King short story called "Harvey's Dream" into a screenplay, and this past weekend we started filming it. It's a really cool story, and I don't want to give too much away about the plot, but I'm very excited to see how it turns out!

Last week we also held the first round of auditions for Molly Gordon. We had a lot of great people come in, and we're holding callbacks next Tuesday. I can't wait to see how they go!

Molly Gordon: An Introduction

I thought it might be nice to give a little bit of backstory on the web series I am in the middle of writing, since it's basically going to be the focus of my life for the next couple of months! Molly Gordon is a quirky comedy web series about a girl who moves from the east coast to Los Angeles to be with her long-distance boyfriend, who is trying to make it as an actor. Shortly after she arrives in LA, he breaks up with her, leaving her alone and friendless in a new city. The series follows Molly as she tries (and often fails) to fit in and make friends in Los Angeles.

It's a goofy, fun project and I hope that other people will enjoy it! We'll be holding auditions over the next couple of weeks. I'm very excited to see the actors come in, and see how the characters will come to life. It should be a pretty excellent couple of months.

Some December Updates

It's been a month full of writing for me! My brother and I have been working on a pilot together, which I am very excited about, and I'm making some real progress on a web series that I've been planning to write for a while now. I'm hoping to finish writing the web series by the end of January, and then we'll head into production sometime in the next couple of months. More info to come soon!

For now, though, Happy Holidays! I can't wait to see what 2012 will bring.

Citizen's Arrest! feedback

So a few months ago I shot a webisode with the amazing Jon Deutsch, a good friend of mine who is currently a third-year graduate student in film at USC. It was the third in a web series called Citizen’s Arrest! When the series was screened in front of industry execs, writers, and producers, it was very well received!

“Brilliant, really funny.” - Danielle Uhlarik, YouTube executive

“Great cast and acting. That’s what you get with great casting.” - R.J. Cutler, Director, The September Issue

“Can’t be effusive enough in my praise. We would be interested in distributing this.” - Frank Chindamo, founder of Fun Little Movies and leading webside/mobisode producer/distributor
